Getting Started
How to Get Into Live Quotes?
Before you can execute a menu option in Live Quotes, your PC (either your Personal Computer or
Laptop) must be powered up and a successful sign on to the system is performed. The system is
designed such that a combination of application icons is displayed on your terminal screen in the
arrangement, which suits your preference.
Powering up the PC and Access Live Quotes
To power up your PC
- Press the power switch button of the Monitor to switch it On
- Next press the power switch button of the PC’s system unit to switch it On
- The system will start the phase of loading the programs while it is displaying messages on your terminal screen.
To access Live Quotes
- On completion of the loading phase, double click on your Web Browser e.g. Internet Explorer and enter the web address which directs you to your Live Quotes
- Enter your User ID and Password into the input boxes available
User ID (Up to 15 alphanumeric characters) E.g. usrxxx, usr123, etc
Password (Up to 9 alphanumeric characters) E.g. secret2
Note: You will notice that as you enter each character of your password, the system will replace it with an ‘*’ on the screen for confidentiality and security purpose
- Click <OK> to proceed with login
Note
You may select the Remember my ID checkbox so that your ID is remembered the next time you choose to login
- When you have logged in successfully, the system will determine the appropriate combination of the application menu screens to be displayed to you according to your status and needs.
- You may proceed to the Live Quotes via the menus available

Note
Your Live Quotes may not appear exactly as displayed above. The trading bar i.e. the
row with the User ID and trading buttons may be placed either at the bottom or top of the screen
depending on users request.
The theme and layout differs for each users as the layout and theme is customizable by
the users upon users choice of selection

- The active screen displayed upon login will be the screen that has been last viewed by users
e.g. If My Favourites folder may be displayed upon login if it was the last screen you have
viewed during your previous login
Screen Customization
Theme
The theme is a custom graphical appearance for a software or program
The theme for Live Quotes consist of light and dark color combinations to suite your needs
Select the theme that you are most comfortable with e.g. we will be using the theme Sky Dark
throughout this entire User Guide
- To select a theme, click on the drop down menu and select a theme which you feel most comfortable with
- There are 6 pairs of color combinations for you to select from
- You may view the sample of the various themes in Appendix E at the end of this documentation

Screen Size
There are 2 display sizes available for your selection i.e. 1024 x 768 pixels and 800 x 600 pixels.
The screen size selection allows you to select the screen size that your computer is using so that the
system may be displayed properly e.g. not too big or not too small

View Options & View Layouts
View Option is what can be seen on the screen. There are 6 different views that you can select from.
- To select the views, click any of the numbers

- When the view is selected the selected view number will be larger and is cyan in color

In each view, you may select a different view layout. There are 20 view layouts for you to select from for each view.

The view layout selected will be the default layout for the selected view e.g. for View 3 we may be using Layout 20 and for View 4 we may be using Layout 1
You may choose your 6 Favourites layouts and set them into the 6 views available
- To set the layouts into the views, click on any of the view numbers
- Click the Change View Layout icon

- The preview and description of each view layout is displayed
- Select the desired layout
- Select whether the quotations are to be displayed in list view or card view
- Click <OK>

Panels
The difference between each view layout is the panel arrangement and the panel combinations
There are 7 different panels which displays different information i.e. index chart, heartbeat volume,
transaction heartbeat, most recent transactions, best buy/sell, fast quote and handy information
Index Chart
Index Chart displays a Chart of the Composite Index
- To set the Index Chart as one of the panels, you may select layouts number 6, 9, 10, 11, 14, 17, 20

Heartbeat Volume
The heartbeat volume is the calculation of volume displayed in a line graph format for every minute
The heartbeat volume allows you to analyze the volume involved for every minute
Basically the higher the volume is for each minute, the more active the market is indicated to be
- To set the Heartbeat Volume as one of the panels, you may select layouts number 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18, 20

Transaction Heartbeat
The transaction heartbeat is the calculation of transactions incurred for each minute displayed in a line graph format
The transaction heartbeat allows you to analyze the number of transactions for each minute
Basically the higher the number of transactions is for each minute, the more active the market is indicated to be
- To set the Transaction Heartbeat as one of the panels, you may select layouts number 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20

Most Recent Transactions
This panel displays the most recent transactions in Bursa Malaysia
If the list moves continuously displaying the most recent transactions, the more active the market is
indicated to be
- To set the Most Recent Transactions as one of the panels, you may select layouts number 3, 4, 5, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19

Best Buy/Sell
The Best Buy/Sell panel displays the 3 best buy prices and 3 best sell prices for a selected counter
This panel also displays the volume and the total price involved for the selected counter
The Best Buy/Sell panel is always displayed with the Handy Information Panel
- To set the Best Buy/Sell as one of the panels, you may select layouts number 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Handy Information
The Handy Information panel displays information, which may be useful to be viewed
You may change the information to be displayed in this panel
You are only allowed to display a maximum number of 8 items in this panel
- To set the Handy Information as one of the panels, you may select layouts number 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Fast Quotes
With the Fast Quotes in view, when you search for a stock name or stock code, the details of the
searched stock will be displayed in the Fast Quote panel without replacing the other stock
quotations being displayed.
- To set the Fast Quotes as one of the panels, you may select layouts number 11, 12, 13, 20
Note
The stock name / stock code must be the exact stock name / stock code keyword in Bursa
Malaysia during search in order for the stock details of the searched stock to be displayed in the
Fast Quotes panel

Page Navigation
In the Stocks Quotation page, there is only 20 stocks displayed in a page
For categories which contains more than 20 stocks, you will have to navigate to the next page to
view the rest of the stocks
- To navigate to another page, click on the right pointed arrow on the top right of the screen or press Ctrl + Page Down on your keyboard

- To navigate to previous page, click on the left pointed arrow on the top right of the screen or press Ctrl + Page Up on your keyboard

- To navigate to the last page of the displayed category, click on the right pointed arrow pointed towards a vertical line or click Ctrl + End on your keyboard

- To navigate to the first page from any other pages, click on the left pointed arrow pointed towards a vertical line or click Ctrl + Home on your keyboard

You will be able to see the selected stocks position, the total stocks in the active page, the current
page being viewed and total number of pages for that category displayed represented by the
numbers in between the arrow shape buttons 
E.g. the Stock HARBOUR is in position number 49 on page number 3

Column Setting
You can choose the columns that you want to view when viewing the stocks quotation.
You can also rearrange the columns i.e. moving the column before or after another column or
arrange the stock quotations according to either ascending or descending order
- To select the columns to be displayed, click on the Customize Columns icon

- On the left side is the list of columns that can be added and on the right side are the columns that has already been added
- To add the column, select the column on the left side and click <Add>
- To remove a column, select the column on the right side and click <Delete>
- To arrange the columns, select the column and drag it up or down or click <Move Up> or <Move Down>
- You can also rearrange the columns when in the stocks quotation screen by clicking and dragging on the column bar and dropping it to the location you want
- To resize the column, place your mouse at the column line until you see this mouse cursor
and then drag the column. Drag the column to the left to make the column smaller and to the right to make the column bigger.
- To rearrange the order of the stocks in either ascending or descending order, select the column that the stocks want to be arranged in ascending or descending order and click on the selected column bar e.g. The Stock column bar is clicked and all the Stocks are arranged according to the stock name in alphabetical order

- The arrow facing up on the bar indicates that the stocks are arranged in ascending order and the arrow facing down on the bar indicates that the stocks are arranged in descending order
- Click on the column bar again to change the arrangement order from ascending to descending or vice versa
Font Setting
This allows you to change the font size, font type and font style to a font that is readable to you e.g.
long sighted users may want to enlarge their fonts for ease of readability
- To change the font, click on the Change Stock List Font icon

- Select the font type, font style and font size
- Click <OK>

- E.g. We have selected the font type Monotype Corsiva, hence the fonts displayed is Monotype Corsiva as can be seen in the figure below

- If the columns Simplified Chinese Stock Name or Traditional Chinese Stock Name is a
column in the stocks quotation screen, you will be able to see a drop down menu whereby
you can select whether you want to change the font for English text, Simplified Chinese text
or Traditional Chinese text when you click on the Change Stock List Font icon.
